Al-Sisi to Al-Burhan: Egypt supports the security and stability of Sudan
Egypt has expressed its support for the security and stability of Sudan, within the framework of the strong and eternal brotherly relations between the two countries.
This came during a meeting between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, today, with Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, head of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, in the capital, Riyadh, on the sidelines of the Arab-Chinese summit to be held at a later time.
According to a statement by Ambassador Bassam Rady, spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, President Sisi affirmed, during the meeting, the firmness of Egypt’s position on preserving the security and stability of Sudan and its constant keenness to support Sudan regionally and internationally, within the framework of the strong and eternal brotherly relations between Egypt and Sudan.
The Egyptian President also expressed Cairo’s aspiration to strengthen and develop these relations in all fields, especially at the security, military, economic and commercial levels.
President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s full support for the efforts of the Sovereignty Council to achieve political and security stability in Sudan, based on the close connection of Egyptian and Sudanese national security, and the historical ties that unite the peoples of the Nile Valley.
Al-Sisi expressed Egypt’s support for the framework political agreement that was recently signed this month regarding the transitional period in Sudan, as an important and pivotal step to establish principles related to governance structures in Sudan and support the Sudanese state for the success of the political process through a purely Sudanese consensus that guarantees the stability and prosperity of Sudan.

Al-Burhan praised the unlimited Egyptian support through various forums to maintain the safety and stability of Sudan, stressing that there are broad prospects for developing joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries, and Sudan’s keenness to provide a supportive climate for that in various strategic development fields.
According to the Egyptian statement, the meeting reviewed the overall bilateral relations between Egypt and Sudan, where satisfaction was expressed with the level of coordination between the two countries. During the coming period, for the common interest of the two brotherly countries and peoples.
Insights were also exchanged regarding the developments of the Renaissance Dam file, where agreement was confirmed on the utmost importance of the water issue for the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples as a matter of national security, and then the two countries adhered to reaching a binding legal agreement for the process of filling and operating the dam, in a way that achieves the common interests of all parties.
