Benzema breaks the silence.. Did you escape from Real Madrid because of the World Cup?
French striker Karim Benzema, Real Madrid striker, broke his silence after he was accused of intentionally not participating with his team recently because of the 2022 World Cup.
Benzema missed Real Madrid’s last 4 matches in the Spanish League, before the long hiatus for various club competitions due to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.
The reason announced by the Italian, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, was that Benzema felt uncomfortable in his foot and his inability to play perfectly, but some fans accused him of evading so as not to be injured and participate with France in the World Cup.
On this matter, Benzema said in statements to the “Amazon Prime Video Sport” platform: “I felt a slight pain, and because of it, I was not able to participate in a way that helps my team.”
He added, “I will be in good shape during the World Cup finals, I will be ready physically and mentally with the French national team well.”
He concluded: “This will be one of the best gifts for me. Every match will be like a final in the World Cup. We have a very strong team. We will take each match separately.”
It is noteworthy that Benzema missed the 2018 World Cup, which France achieved in Russia, by a disciplinary decision from Didier Deschamps, the “Roosters” coach, due to the player’s crisis in the case of blackmailing his former colleague Mathieu Valbuena.
