The Moroccan national team achieved a dear victory at the expense of its Belgian counterpart, 2-0, to revive its hopes of reaching the final price of the 2022 World Cup.
The match brought together the two teams, on Sunday evening, at “Al-Thumama” stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha, in the second round of Group F.
Morocco’s first goal came in the 70th minute through Abdelhamid Sabry, noting that the “Atlas Lions” team canceled a goal before the end of the first half, scored by Hakim Ziyech.
3 minutes before the end of the match, Zakaria Abu Khalal scored the second goal for the Moroccan national team, confirming that the “Atlas Lions” had won 3 precious points.
With this victory, the Moroccan national team occupied the top of Group F with 4 points, after a goalless draw in the first round with Croatia, which will play shortly against Canada.
On the other hand, Belgium dropped to second place with 3 points, after beating Canada 1-0 in the first round.
It is noteworthy that this is the first victory achieved by Morocco in the World Cup since its last victory in the World Cup, which came 24 years ago, specifically in the World Cup in France, when it won 3-0 over Scotland on June 23, 1998.
During its participation in the World Cup in Russia, Morocco was unable to achieve victory, as it suffered two defeats and a draw.
It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team achieved 3 victories during its 6 World Cup matches, all of which came at the expense of European teams, namely Portugal, Scotland and Belgium.
