Iran arrests a famous actress in connection with the protests
The Iranian authorities arrested a famous Iranian actress, against the background of the protests ravaging the country.
Traneh Alidoosti was arrested on Saturday night on charges of “spreading false information and supporting anti-revolutionary circles,” according to the pro-government Tasnim news agency.
This charge often leads to long prison terms.
Alidoosti was one of the highest paid and most internationally recognized actresses in Iran.
Alidoosti posted a photo of herself without a headscarf on her Instagram page, in a public show of solidarity with the protesters.
